Trip to Australia

The Land Down Under

Australia - The Land Down Under

That famous 2018 Super Bowl commercial still gives me a giggle! Australia, what a fascinating country. I have had the opportunity to visit Australia on several occasions over the years and each time I come home loving the country more and dreaming of my return. From the stunning beaches of Queensland to the rugged and untouched areas of Tasmania to the famed Red Centre. Australia truly has something for everyone!

I'll recap a few of my journeys highlights to kick start your travel dreams...

South Australia

This is a hidden gem that doesn't get visited by many on their first visit to Australia. I think that's a shame as it has so much to offer. Adelaide, the capital of South Australia, is a quaint easy walking city. In the heart of the city is the Central Market. It is worth spending a couple hours wondering through the market. If you are a foodie, then a chef guided tour is a must. Outside of Adelaide you will find over 200 cellar doors within an hours drive including the famed Barossa Valley. A small guided tour of the wine region is certainly a highlight. For those looking for wildlife, take a short flight over to Kangaroo Island, you won't be disappointed. Touring in Land Rovers with a Private Guide was amazing. The guide, a local to the island, knew the ins and outs. Kangaroos grazing in a field, to koala alley, and then a stop at the beach to walk with the seals.

Tasmania

The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of this region is peaceful. We took a night tour from Stanley to the see the fairy penguins, absolutely adorable. From here we drove down to Cradle Mountain where you can stop at Devils@Cradle for an opportunity to see the elusive Tasmanian Devil. An experienced Tasmanian Devil Keeper will give you an accurate understanding of their lifecycles and the current threats that confront them, such as Devil Facial Tumour Disease. A stop at Dove Lake was truly a tranquil experience. Give yourselves a few hours to walk around the lake and take in the natural beauty. Continuing to the west, a stop in Strahan to experience a Gordon River cruise. Gordon River Cruises gives you the rare opportunity to experience the UNESCO Tasmanian World Heritage Wilderness Area from the water – it is one of the most fascinating activities you can do when you visit Strahan.

Whitsundays

A beautiful chain of islands off the east coast. From some of the island you can easily access the Great Barrier Reef a diving or snorkeling highlight. My first stay was on Brampton Island. A small island located towards the north of the Whitsundays. This is great if you want a budget friendly stay for a few nights to get refreshed. During low-tide they have a 'fish bowl' area where a small pool of water between islands is filled with aquatic life. We seen turtles, sting rays, and tons of fish. Hamilton Island on the other hand is larger with a few resorts to choose from self-catering through to luxury. From Hamilton island you can explore the Great Barrier Reef and also Whitehaven Beach, one of the most spectacular beaches in the world. While out at the reef why not splurge and take a helicopter ride! Can you picture yourself relaxing in this fantastic tub at the luxurious qualia, part of the Luxury Lodges of Australia.

I can go on and on and on about my love of the country. If you are thinking about travelling to Australia come in and see me. Let's talk about your dream adventure and let me make it come to life for you. I'll leave you with the below video which highlights the Luxury Lodges of Australia. These are great as a splurge to your holiday or stay at several and make it a holiday of a lifetime!
